Oct 5, 2019Tunica Times this week that the creator of an online fundraiser has not released funds that were raised to pay for funeral expenses. Henderson Funeral Homes is handling the arrangements for 2-year-old Cortez Moore and 5-year-old Brenilah Moore. The funerals are scheduled for Saturday at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, located at 12983 Old Hwy 61 South in Dundee. As of Friday, the account set up by Mississippi resident Sonya Dunn had raised nearly $7,000. The money, Wilson told the Tunica Times, was to be paid directly to the funeral home. The Clarion Ledger attempted to contact both Wilson and Dunn Friday morning, but they could not be reached. However, Cedric Burnett, one of the owners along with his mother of Henderson Funeral Homes in Tunica, said Friday that no payment was received. In reference to Dunn, Burnett said his mother had been in contact with her. "Dunn called her on Wednesday and she said that she was going to come by the funeral home Thursday and never showed up," Burnett told the Clarion Ledger. "I don't know why she did not show up." Wilson, according to a Tunica Times Facebook post, was in the process of stopping the account and asked that the public make no more donations. "The caskets that she picked out for the two kids needed to be shipped from Atlanta to Tunica and we needed the money to pay for the caskets on Thursday to get them here today," Burnett said.
